Cuban Art Collector Appointed to Board of Miami Art Museum

Juan P. Loumiet, a Cuban and Cuban-American art collector, is among the new members selected by the Miami Art Museum for its board of trustees. Along with Rodolfo Luzardo, Deryl McKissack, Mark E. Oren, M.D., Arthur Halsey Rice, Eneida Roldan, Dennis Scholl, and other board members, Loumiet will oversee MAM community programs, private and corporate fundraising, as well as the planning of the new museum to be constructed in Miami's Museum Park.

Juan P. Loumiet has been a member of the law firm Greenberg Trauring LLP since 1977. He has collaborated with MAM in Triunfo del Espíritu /Triumph of the Spirit, an exhibition by the Cuban artist Carlos Alfonzo, which then traveled to the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC. Loumiet has been a member of the boards of other Florida-based institutions such as the Dade Community Foundation, the Miami City Ballet, the Performing Arts Center Trust, the Miami-Dade County United Way, and the Miami Children’s Chorus. He earned a B.A. cum laude from Yale and a magna cum laude degree from the University of Miami Law School.
